Hello beautiful people.
You know what's the best part of being one of the very few who speaks foreign languages in M'sia??
It's the fact that you are one of the very few and the nation acknowledges it.
So, when there's a huge-ass international thing going on, count yourself in.
First, you'll get a very polite invitation letter and then, you accept it.
..and I suddenly feel so important..
I mean come on, one minute I'm a vain undergrad and suddenly, I'm with the national archives??
I'm a little amazed. Seriously.
And when I thought I couldn't feel any more important, they handed me a key.
...to a room in The Equatorial.
WHA-?? I get a room??
I know the international delegates get rooms. I know the secretariats get rooms. I know some of the higher positioned staff from the national archives get rooms.
I GET A ROOM????
FOR A WHOLE WEEK???
Man.., this feels..erm..different.
I might only end up having to talk to delegates from Spanish speaking countries who probably already speak perfect English.
==
I'm typing this right now on the bed and I'm still not quite believing it.
I definitely feel good and will be even better if those who once told me or my mom that I will end up becoming a nothing with a language degree find out.
This probably ain't anything to most people but for me who tried to prove to unconvinced people about the importance of language or the relevance of what I'm doing in this place, this is something beyond big. This is huge gigantic indescribable.
Anyway, this means there's not going to be any updates for the whole week but this room comes equipped with wireless internet connection. So, I might just take some time off from rolling on the bed from one side to another and blog!!
Hope you girls have a great week ahead. Mine already is.

Although the expo sucked, I managed to spend bout RM 250 there.
I even went back on the last day (yesterday) to get more of whatever I bought on the first day, spending another good 200 bucks. I'm happy with my purchases but my wallet isn't exactly over the moon right now.
Anyway, here's what I got from the expo.
These are the natural holistic healing skincare products that I've mentioned from the previous post. The big bottle is a mango + passion fruit body milk which is currently my HG moisturiser and the small packets are various scrubs and masques. The salesperson even convinced me to get a natural bowl and spoon set. I've only used them once but they were good enough to make me go back to the sucky expo to buy more!!
The nice lady, Sophia, who guided me through the products recommended the green tea scrub, the tangerine and honey masque and yoghurt masque for my face after I told her about my face's condition. She even did a spot test on my hand to show me how well they actually work.
When I told her about my eczema condition on the legs, she picked up a few more products for me. This time, she picked the egg and honey scrub, soy rice masque and the body milk. I've tried them on the very night I bought them and then I went back for more. haha. If you have eczema, you HAVE TO try these out.
On top of stocking up on what I've purchased, I bought an extra passion fruit scrub for my face. These babies smell so heavenly that I almost ended eating them up and because I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them, they deserve a proper review on its own. The bad news is they only supply these gems to spas (few of the top spas in M'sia buy their stuff!!) and sell it to public during this kind of expo. I bought enough to last me a few good months and if I still love them as much as I do now, they will be in another beauty expo this coming September and I will definitely buy in bulks!!
For those who really want to try them out, the is a similar expo which is currently going on at the PWTC. Go check out the Bali Tangi booth!! Oh, they are very very affordable too. Each 100gm pack is only RM 15 or RM 85 for the 1 kg salon sizes while the body milk is only RM 65.
Besides these babies, I managed to grab a few ChinaGlaze nail polishes. I've only heard of this brand from beauty bloggers from the States and I didn't even know they were available here. The best part was the fact that they were selling them at such low price and when I found out that they are actually better than OPI, I went back for more!
As you can see, I'm not a very adventurous person when it comes to nails. The first two shades are for french manicure while the rest are mainly beige/pink shades. The red is for my toenails. I don't know why but I only wear red for my toenails but when I went back the other day, I actually got a little less boring and got a deep purple, bright blue..erm another bottle of the same red and more pink shades.
I also bought a top coat that works as a base coat too and since I am going to use it twice as much, I got myself another bottle. They were such a steal because a 50% discount was given when you purchase more than 6 bottles which means they were RM 17.50 each!! HOW TO RESIST?????
After spending a lot of time choosing shades, my bf and I decided to leave the expo because there were nothing else to look at. So, we went to the mall (Suria KLCC) for more shopping!!
First stop was Sasa to buy accesories such as SallyHansen's French Manicure Guide (because i can't draw straight lines!!), a pair of toe separators and a pump bottle for the body milk that can actually fill up almost 6-7 full bottles. Then, I went lurking in Watson's and found Canmake's EyeLash Essence. I absolutely had to get it after reading about how great it is on Vivawoman.net. Personally, I think this little blue tube, priced at RM 27.90 before 20% off, is more magical than great!
We went to SakaeSushi next and since the bf was such a sweetheart the whole day, I paid for dinner. It was all very nice until I accidentally knocked my glass over and had green tea on my fairly new coach bag, my jeans and my new pair of wedges.
After dinner, we walked around a little more and I almost bought a pair of jeans from Zara. I wanted to buy these cute flat pumps from GAP but to bad they didn't have my size. The bf, after seeing how my day was sucky continuosly, encouraged me to go into MAC and told me that he would buy me presents. I love presents!!
If you are in Malaysia and have been getting terrible service from MAC's SA, you haven't been to the one in KLCC because everyone there was so friendly and helpful! I was checking out the Sci-fi collection when the SA told me that they've just launched Heatherrette. She must have seen my confused look because after saying that, she quickly added that the collection was actually lauched a very long time ago in the States but just recently in Asia. I didn't bother looking at them because I only wanted the lipstick in lollipop loving and I already have it since a couple of months ago.
I was planning on getting some tendertones but after testing them out, I wasn't too convinced and ended up with 2 slimshines instead since I don't own any.
The one on the left is Gaily while the one on the right is Bare. I love my SN's lippies but these slimshines are currently my favourite and Bare is my new HG for nude/mlbb lippie!! I still love my SN's lippie very much tho.
I went home after that because it was already 10pm and all the shops were closing and my bf told me he hasn't been able to feel his legs (and I was the one is 3.5-inch wedges!!) since 4 hours ago. It was then when I realised that we have been out for almost 10 hours.
I have a lot more pictures to post from other recent hauls but this post is getting way too long. So, here's a final picture of everything that I bought that day.
Before I start raving about this 'magic' water, I have a good news for my fellow Malaysian beauty-junkies.
Psst..guess what?
We are having our very own International Beauty Expo!! ..and the better news (well, at least for me) is, I'll be going on the very first day!! I've drooled reading posts about these expos by all those lovely and lucky girls in the States and I'm actually going to attend one in less than 12 hours.
The best news? You don't have to be in the industry to attend because only the first two days (11th and 12th) are for those in the industry while the other two days (13th and 14th) are for everyone!!
Anyway, to those who are in KL and interested, here are the details :-

Although I don't know what to expect, I just hope this will be, if not as good, at least half as good as those in the States. This is the reason why I haven't clicked on my SN cart's 'checkout' button.
OMG I'm so excited!!
::EDIT::
Here comes the bad news.
Although I went with no expectations at all, I was really disappointed.
The whole thing was nothing but a big joke.
How can a beauty expo has no proper products for sale?
They didn't even have any booths that actually sell single makeup brushes!!
The booths there were mainly occupied by, IMO, totally unrelated stuff. OK, fine. Maybe there were a couple of makeup academies but besides bugging your life to sign up courses, they have almost nothing to offer. Some have pan eyeshadows for sale but come on, they couldn't even give me the name of the brand/manufacturer when I asked and they were actually more expensive than MAC!! If you are looking for a bargain like what the girls from the States had, heh, tough luck. Except for those products by some unknown company, there wasn't a single familiar name.
The funniest part is, this particular BEAUTY expo has bank companies and travelling agencies (wtf??) occupying the booths.
The organizer has some balls to even call it an international expo when the place looks like an indoor market. Not only the place was a huge mess, the things sold by half of exhibitors are just plain 'made-in-china' cheap looking stuff. The only booths decent enough for me (remember, i had no expectations at all) were this wholeseller who sells ChinaGlaze nail polishes at very cheap prices (10%-55% discount depending on the amount you buy) and another company, Bali Tangi, that sells natural holistic healing products such as scrubs, masks and body milk (review coming up soon!).
Unless you are big on nail polishes and natural skincare products, DON'T BOTHER GOING !!!!!
Even if you do go, don't worry, you won't cause any damage to the wallet.
======
HO-KAY. Back to the 'magic' water.
WARNING : VERY LENGTHY!!
Before using this, the only facial mist that I know is the one by Evian which I used once back in high school when I was an active sportswoman and I hated it. It wasn't because Evian was bad. It was just me not knowing back then that water, when mixed with sweat, could cause fungal infection and for that reason, I had white patches on my face for a very long time. Trust me, it wasn't beautiful.
It was only slightly more than a month ago when I decided to get one of these facial mists so that I could apply my foundation the 'wet' way. I grabbed a pack-of-3 of small (50ml) Evian and was about to pay when the SA popped out of nowhere and started promoting Avene to me. I was told that the biggest difference between Evian and Avene is the fact that Avene is thermal spring water which is non-comedogenic with hypoallergenic compund which is great even for those with hypersensitive skin while Evian is just mineral water mist. The SA managed to convince me and I got a 150ml bottle which cost a lot more than that Evian promo pack.
It didn't take me very long to be at the local drugstore paying RM99.80 for a pack-of-3 (why always 3??) of large (300ml) bottle.
My mom looked at it and said " you paid soooooo much for. *clears throat*..water?? "
As you have already seen from the first picture, it comes in 3 different sizes; 50ml, 150ml and 300ml and I, being totally in love with it, have 3 x 300ml, 1 x 150ml and 2 x 50ml. I have 1 big bottle sitting at my makeup 'station', 1 in my room in uni's residential college and 1 more as backup. The 2 tiny bottles are for my purse and school bag while the 150ml one is on the floor right beside me now. If this is not an obsession, what is?
I'm at my 4th paragraph now and I have not even started reviewing it yet because I suck at it. In fact, I think I'm going to talk about what do I do with it instead of what it can do and because I like doing list, here's the list of what do I use the thermal spring water for (I think my sentence is grammatically wrong somewhere) :-
1. Mineral foundation application
I spray my brush 2-3 times with it before picking up the foundation for the wet application and because it has moisturising properties, the foundation is less drying. If I apply my mineral foundation dry, I either spray my flat top brush a couple of times and buff my whole face (with foundation already applied dry) or spray my face to set the foundation and while it's still damp, buff with a clean brush. The dry and wet methods give the same creamy, flawless finish the difference is that the latter gives better coverage.
2. Additional moisturiser
I have dry-combo skin and it doesn't help that I'm in an air-conditioned room half the time. My skin gets extremely dry after cleansing and even when I use the most gentle cleanser, my skin will become taut which is why I abandon everything and jump straight to my skincare routine right after shower. Now, I give my face a couple of spray, let it sit for a few seconds before patting it dry and I can actually feel my skin 'drinking' it in. I can go about choosing my clothes or doing my hair before continuing with my normal skincare routine without feeling any tight-ness on my face. When I use it at night, my t-zone gets less oily in the morning too.
3. Leg spray
I know this sounds almost like throwing money away but I swear it helps in controlling the eczema from getting all wacky. In fact, I think it heals my legs a little. My legs itch and will have small red bumps all over when the surrounding is hot or dusty or dirty. I will always end up scatching them unconsciously, leaving me scarred all over the legs and since I've started using the spray, I not only stopped having new scars, I haven't been getting the bumps and itch at all and being in a hot and humid place all year long, it's almost impossible!
4. Pick-me-ups
I walk a lot around campus and in Malaysia, you have no choice but to sweat like a pig. So, having to walk 15 minutes uphill in the afternoon after lunch and then going into a cool (sometimes cold) air-conditioned room with soft cushioned seat for Spanish Civilasation class, I would be lying if I say that I'm actually alert and that's when the small bottle in my bag comes in handy. I blot away all the sweat with tissue (remember, sweat and water don't go along well) , spray and pat dry. Doing this actually helps to keep the shine away too!
I'm sure I use this for something else but these are what the spray is most used for. I'm very amazed at how this works for me and I cannot imagine not having it around although I've only been using it for slightly more than a month.
This is definitely a beauty must-have and I think everyone should give it a try, not necessarily by Avene. There are many other brands that have thermal spring water such as Vichy, La Roche, Suisse Programme and few others that I don't remember which can be easily found in Sasa or Guardian Pharmacy. It might be a little pricy for 'water' but they last pretty long and there are a couple of brands that are cheaper but slightly. I know Evian is cheaper and it might even work just as well.
At second thought, I should go back to Sasa to get the pack-of-3 of small Evians. Even if Evian doesn't have moisturing/healing properties as good as Avene's, I'm sure it'll work great for foundation application and as the pick-me-ups which means that I don't have to spend so much!!
p/s : please excuse me if there are a lot of typos because it's 3.27 am now and even the spray is not 'picking-me-up'.
....HATES ME !!!!!!!!
I've been trying to make a few purchases lately and all them failed!!!
First, it was EDM.
My order was on pending mode for the longest time and noone from CustomerService was replying me.
When they finally did, they told me there was some problem with my order and gave me back refund so that I can re-order BUT the specials ended !!!!
Then, it was SilkNaturals.
My paypal account absolutely hates SilkNaturals. I was just one step away from completing my transaction when PayPal decided to mess with me. So, now I'm left with US$50 worth of stuff in my cart, with all US$24 of my points redeemed (from the failed transaction!!) and NO ORDER PLACED !!!!!!!!!!
I think I'm going to fall into depression soon if everything doesn't get fixed.
Right now, I'm just going to swallow the tub of ice cream and sulk for the rest of the day or maybe cry a little.
=(
Lets say, if you have a plan with friends tonight..
and your hair is flat..
and you have no curling iron with you..
What do you do??
Me??
I curled my hair the old-school way..
..with my mom's hair rollers!!
It wasn't a very easy taks and definitely took a very long time to get all the hair up.
There were 20 rollers in total of 3 different sizes.
The bigger ones at the bottom and the smallest on the top of the head.
Side and front shots of me with a head full of rollers.
The rollers made me look really silly but I had to leave them on for a few good hours.
My dad had a good time flicking them everytime he walk passed me.
I was worry that the hair will turn out really badly because the last time I used these rollers, it was a disaster.
I had to give it another shot anyway because I was desperate.
My hair was just so stubborn!!
I probably had them on for about 3 and a half hours and I was relieved to see the result.
Woohoo! big bouncy curls!!
Me likey!!
So, the question is, should I get my hair permed (again) when I visit my hairdresser??
or
Should I go back to..
..THIS ??
I really like my short hair a lot..
..but getting it to be this short means chopping almost everything off..
..but I've been having long hair for 3 years now and I'm bored with it..
sigh..dilemma!
This weird box powder with an equally weird name is currently my HG primer powder and it doesn't cost me an arm or a leg or even a fingernail because i bought this 'magic' powder for RM 1.80 (US$ 0.55).
I was in makeupmania.com lusting over La Femme blushes when I came across this.
I was very surprised to see it there because I've seen it before because my mom used to keep a box around at home to use it as jeweleries/silverware polish!!
The one selling in Makeupmania.com which is called Chinese Rice Powder is by this company called World Girl and apparently Palladio has the same product that looks exactly the same. So, I have no idea who came up with this product first but my guess is not any one of them because the one I'm having is by some chinese brand that goes all the way back to my grandma's era.
My skin is dry-combo but I have the oiliest nose ever. I've tried all sort of primers before but not one of them worked. The best that I've tried so far is SN's perfecting powder which keeps my nose oil-free for about 4-5 hours. EDM's Start to Finish powder lasted a good 45 minutes because it is soooo drying that it made my nose produce more oil than usual.
Both the other 2 companies call this powder a rice powder and I've heard that rice powder absorbs oil really well, so, I've decided to give it a try. Unless Calcium Carbonate is made out of rice, this is not rice powder (correct me if I'm wrong). As you can see, this contains Talc too which is almost a taboo ingredient for us MMU lovers but I've never had (touchwood!) any bad reactions towards it. It also has this typical floral scent we get from talcum powder.
I was a little skeptical at first since it isn't rice powder as I expected it to be but after using it for 4 days now without any breakouts, It's safe to say that I've fallen in love with this powder. Contained in this cardboard box is a block of white pressed powder. Makeupmania.com claims that it is "The most finely ground cosmetic powder available!!". I cannot agree more and because it's so fine, the powder leaves a really smooth surface for foundation application but also because it's so fine, the powder cracks easily.
Besides leaving my face smooth as a baby's bottom, this powder kept my nose not only oil-free but also shine-free after 7 hours without drying my skin! It was almost nearing the 8th hour when I start seeing a little shine on my nose but it was intantly fixed with a thin layer of this powder. It was almost like magic!!
I'm not sure where you can get this but I got mine from some old chinese grocery store by some really really old, almost ancient looking couple. I saw someone selling this on eBay but the price is crazy. At first I decided that I would help anyone to get it if they want but this thing cracks way too easily. I have pretty sensitive skin and if I can wear this with no problem, I think almost any other person can wear this too.
PROS
- price (dirt cheap!)
- not drying
- GREAT oil absoption
- leaves a really smooth surface
- doesn't break me out!!
CONS
- the packaging (hard to carry around but it looks really cute)
- cracks too easily
- scent might be too overpowering to certain people
Will I buy this again?? DEFINITELY unless I find a better one. I'm hoping that EDM rice powder will be better or at least as good as this but my order is still in pending mode!! Until I find a better one, I'm stocking up on this!!
My MadMineral order finally came!!
Me so happy!!
=====
I was playing with the webcam and got carried away.
It's about time I put a face to the name.
So, here are some pictures!!
p/s : excuse the old school bunk bed tho.
TOO MUCH TEETH!!!
This is the face I give my boyfriend when he doesn't allow me to buy more cosmetics. Works like charm all the times. He will not only let me buy, he will buy for me. he spoils me a little too much sometimes but I'm not complaining. =D
Man, don't you just love webcams??
They make you look all flawless and good.
I don't even look anywhere close to that in real!! My eyes are so big in the pictures!!
*sigh*
Fine, I've deceived enough with these webcam pictures.
Here's how i actually look like.
The second picture's name sounds so wrong!! Haha
Before your mind goes wonky from thinking too much, the picture is called 'Foreplay' because I was wearing SN's foreplay lippie !!
Here's the list of products I used on my face for the first picture.
FACE
Clinique's City Block Sheer SPF25
EDM's LightNeutralBuff in OriginalGlo to conceal
SamFongHoiTong Powder (my HG primer for now and will do a review on it soon!!)
MAC's cream colour base in Pearl to highlight
SN's blush in Forbidden
EYES
MadMineral's IndelibleCremeShadow in ApricotFrost
MadMineral's e/s in Shell
MadMineral's e/s in Yam
MadMineral's e/s in Oak Bronze
PureLuxe e/s in CopperAura
Lancome's LeStyloWaterproofLiner in Cafe
LIPS
Lipbalm from MyLipStuff
MAC's LollipopLoving
Clinique's LongLastGlosswear in KnockoutNude
As for the second picture, I only have SN's lippie in Foreplay on and this is how i usually look like when I go to class because the only thing extra on my face would be the sunscreen and it's not visible. When I want to look a little dressier, I would normally look like the first picture. Yeah, I'm a bit boring. Haha
I didn't use foundation on both the pictures because I was just messing around with the makeup and wasn't going out. If you haven't noticed by now, I have terribly dark undereye circle and I have no idea how to conceal them!!
The MadMinerals products i used were those that came earlier together with an indelible gel liner in Blackout.
So, that's it for today!! Hope you girls have a nice day!
When Ann* first tagged me, I was a bit lazy.
Then Sally tagged me and I kept telling myself I'll do it tomorrow but apparently I didn't
This morning i got up and saw that Apple has tagged me. She even drop me a comment to let me know.
So, I guess there's no way escaping this time!!

2. Find the best way online to send a huge amount of pictures to friend.
3. Find a suitable uni in Spain to complete my undergrad studies and then send in my application.
4. Start searching for the best uni to do my post-grad studies (any of you girls know where's the best place to do post-grad studies for anything linguistics related in the States or UK?)

* Shop!!
*** of course I would give some to my parents but I'm suppose to state down only 5!!
People you want to know more about?
I'm probably one of the last few to be doing this so i don't think i have anyone left to tag!
These past few days have been real crappy for me.
I've cried enough and that is not going to change the fact that he is no longer around.
Everybody told me that I shouldn't be so hard on myself.
I'll feel better eventually but I can never forgive myself for all the horrible things I've said to him.
The only thing that makes me feel better is that he isn't suffering anymore and he's in a better place.
=====
I tend to think too much and get upset when I'm not doing anything and to keep myself from going into depression, I have to keep myself busy. I decided it's about time I allow my makeup 'stash' to make an appearance.
What I'm about to show is probably less than a quarter of what I own because I'm currently back in my folks' place and I wouldn't want to give my mom a heart attack by lugging everything home. No, first she'll whack me on the head and then she'll get a heart attack.
This is my 3-tier traincase-cum-portable dresser that stores everything that I thought I would need during the holidays.
..and this is what I have inside..
TOP : Loose mineral pigments in 3gm and 5gm jars from EDM, Fyrinnae, TMM, MadMinerals and PureLuxe.
MIDDLE : Sample blushes and perfecting powder (love lure and tempt tryst), full sized blushes, foundation and perfecting powder from SN, sample blushes, concealer and foundation from EDM, sample foundations from Lumiere, some BobbiBrown liquid foundation, PureLuxe's luxury powder and eraser.
BOTTOM : all my SN lippies, NYX lippes, Monistat, UDPP, a couple of MAC products and other stuff like mascaras, liners and glosses
..in a different bag are some brushes..
1-3 : blending brushes and lip brush from EsteeLauder
4-5 : eyeshadow brushes from TheBodyShop
6-8 : concealer, smudge and blush brush from GinoMcCray
9-12 : brushes from CoastalScents
13-14 : flat top and LHK from EDM
15 : buffer brush from CoastalScents
Sitting across the room is my EDM haul that has no place in my traincase so they are still in the box. I haven't even started using what I have here and I've placed another order during their recent specials where I got myself the SuperPersonalCustom kit. I love their foundation in OriginalGlo formula because of the dewy finish and the sufficient coverage.I don't need a lot of coverage. In fact, the main reason I use mineral foundation is to even out my skin tone but on days where I need a little more coverage, I use my SN or Lumiere foundation. Speaking of Lumiere, I NEED to get some full sizes while the sales is still on!!
All these makeup products and I went out only twice..with my mom..
I have too much and I'm buying too much. I've only started using MMU early this year and my stash is 4 times of what I have here with me. 6 months ago, I have one lip balm that works for me and I only go out with a layer of my loose treatment powder from Stila.
Even with the amount of make up products that I currently own, I put on only foundation, blush, highlighter under the brows, lippie and I'm good to go. When I need to be all dressy, I'll reach for the same brown shades for the eyes and maybe I'll line my eyes if I'm in a good mood. And when I go to classes, I'll only have my tinted sunscreen on.
I don't even like wearing makeup and I have no idea why I'm buying so much. I guess there is really no reason for an addiction. Haha.
hi where can i buy bali tangi product? hopefully you can help me...thank a lot read more
