Although the expo sucked, I managed to spend bout RM 250 there.
I even went back on the last day (yesterday) to get more of whatever I bought on the first day, spending another good 200 bucks. I'm happy with my purchases but my wallet isn't exactly over the moon right now.
Anyway, here's what I got from the expo.
These are the natural holistic healing skincare products that I've mentioned from the previous post. The big bottle is a mango + passion fruit body milk which is currently my HG moisturiser and the small packets are various scrubs and masques. The salesperson even convinced me to get a natural bowl and spoon set. I've only used them once but they were good enough to make me go back to the sucky expo to buy more!!
The nice lady, Sophia, who guided me through the products recommended the green tea scrub, the tangerine and honey masque and yoghurt masque for my face after I told her about my face's condition. She even did a spot test on my hand to show me how well they actually work.
When I told her about my eczema condition on the legs, she picked up a few more products for me. This time, she picked the egg and honey scrub, soy rice masque and the body milk. I've tried them on the very night I bought them and then I went back for more. haha. If you have eczema, you HAVE TO try these out.
On top of stocking up on what I've purchased, I bought an extra passion fruit scrub for my face. These babies smell so heavenly that I almost ended eating them up and because I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them, they deserve a proper review on its own. The bad news is they only supply these gems to spas (few of the top spas in M'sia buy their stuff!!) and sell it to public during this kind of expo. I bought enough to last me a few good months and if I still love them as much as I do now, they will be in another beauty expo this coming September and I will definitely buy in bulks!!
For those who really want to try them out, the is a similar expo which is currently going on at the PWTC. Go check out the Bali Tangi booth!! Oh, they are very very affordable too. Each 100gm pack is only RM 15 or RM 85 for the 1 kg salon sizes while the body milk is only RM 65.
Besides these babies, I managed to grab a few ChinaGlaze nail polishes. I've only heard of this brand from beauty bloggers from the States and I didn't even know they were available here. The best part was the fact that they were selling them at such low price and when I found out that they are actually better than OPI, I went back for more!
As you can see, I'm not a very adventurous person when it comes to nails. The first two shades are for french manicure while the rest are mainly beige/pink shades. The red is for my toenails. I don't know why but I only wear red for my toenails but when I went back the other day, I actually got a little less boring and got a deep purple, bright blue..erm another bottle of the same red and more pink shades.
I also bought a top coat that works as a base coat too and since I am going to use it twice as much, I got myself another bottle. They were such a steal because a 50% discount was given when you purchase more than 6 bottles which means they were RM 17.50 each!! HOW TO RESIST?????
After spending a lot of time choosing shades, my bf and I decided to leave the expo because there were nothing else to look at. So, we went to the mall (Suria KLCC) for more shopping!!
First stop was Sasa to buy accesories such as SallyHansen's French Manicure Guide (because i can't draw straight lines!!), a pair of toe separators and a pump bottle for the body milk that can actually fill up almost 6-7 full bottles. Then, I went lurking in Watson's and found Canmake's EyeLash Essence. I absolutely had to get it after reading about how great it is on Vivawoman.net. Personally, I think this little blue tube, priced at RM 27.90 before 20% off, is more magical than great!
We went to SakaeSushi next and since the bf was such a sweetheart the whole day, I paid for dinner. It was all very nice until I accidentally knocked my glass over and had green tea on my fairly new coach bag, my jeans and my new pair of wedges.
After dinner, we walked around a little more and I almost bought a pair of jeans from Zara. I wanted to buy these cute flat pumps from GAP but to bad they didn't have my size. The bf, after seeing how my day was sucky continuosly, encouraged me to go into MAC and told me that he would buy me presents. I love presents!!
If you are in Malaysia and have been getting terrible service from MAC's SA, you haven't been to the one in KLCC because everyone there was so friendly and helpful! I was checking out the Sci-fi collection when the SA told me that they've just launched Heatherrette. She must have seen my confused look because after saying that, she quickly added that the collection was actually lauched a very long time ago in the States but just recently in Asia. I didn't bother looking at them because I only wanted the lipstick in lollipop loving and I already have it since a couple of months ago.
I was planning on getting some tendertones but after testing them out, I wasn't too convinced and ended up with 2 slimshines instead since I don't own any.
The one on the left is Gaily while the one on the right is Bare. I love my SN's lippies but these slimshines are currently my favourite and Bare is my new HG for nude/mlbb lippie!! I still love my SN's lippie very much tho.
I went home after that because it was already 10pm and all the shops were closing and my bf told me he hasn't been able to feel his legs (and I was the one is 3.5-inch wedges!!) since 4 hours ago. It was then when I realised that we have been out for almost 10 hours.
I have a lot more pictures to post from other recent hauls but this post is getting way too long. So, here's a final picture of everything that I bought that day.
This weird box powder with an equally weird name is currently my HG primer powder and it doesn't cost me an arm or a leg or even a fingernail because i bought this 'magic' powder for RM 1.80 (US$ 0.55).
I was in makeupmania.com lusting over La Femme blushes when I came across this.
I was very surprised to see it there because I've seen it before because my mom used to keep a box around at home to use it as jeweleries/silverware polish!!
The one selling in Makeupmania.com which is called Chinese Rice Powder is by this company called World Girl and apparently Palladio has the same product that looks exactly the same. So, I have no idea who came up with this product first but my guess is not any one of them because the one I'm having is by some chinese brand that goes all the way back to my grandma's era.
My skin is dry-combo but I have the oiliest nose ever. I've tried all sort of primers before but not one of them worked. The best that I've tried so far is SN's perfecting powder which keeps my nose oil-free for about 4-5 hours. EDM's Start to Finish powder lasted a good 45 minutes because it is soooo drying that it made my nose produce more oil than usual.
Both the other 2 companies call this powder a rice powder and I've heard that rice powder absorbs oil really well, so, I've decided to give it a try. Unless Calcium Carbonate is made out of rice, this is not rice powder (correct me if I'm wrong). As you can see, this contains Talc too which is almost a taboo ingredient for us MMU lovers but I've never had (touchwood!) any bad reactions towards it. It also has this typical floral scent we get from talcum powder.
I was a little skeptical at first since it isn't rice powder as I expected it to be but after using it for 4 days now without any breakouts, It's safe to say that I've fallen in love with this powder. Contained in this cardboard box is a block of white pressed powder. Makeupmania.com claims that it is "The most finely ground cosmetic powder available!!". I cannot agree more and because it's so fine, the powder leaves a really smooth surface for foundation application but also because it's so fine, the powder cracks easily.
Besides leaving my face smooth as a baby's bottom, this powder kept my nose not only oil-free but also shine-free after 7 hours without drying my skin! It was almost nearing the 8th hour when I start seeing a little shine on my nose but it was intantly fixed with a thin layer of this powder. It was almost like magic!!
I'm not sure where you can get this but I got mine from some old chinese grocery store by some really really old, almost ancient looking couple. I saw someone selling this on eBay but the price is crazy. At first I decided that I would help anyone to get it if they want but this thing cracks way too easily. I have pretty sensitive skin and if I can wear this with no problem, I think almost any other person can wear this too.
PROS
- price (dirt cheap!)
- not drying
- GREAT oil absoption
- leaves a really smooth surface
- doesn't break me out!!
CONS
- the packaging (hard to carry around but it looks really cute)
- cracks too easily
- scent might be too overpowering to certain people
Will I buy this again?? DEFINITELY unless I find a better one. I'm hoping that EDM rice powder will be better or at least as good as this but my order is still in pending mode!! Until I find a better one, I'm stocking up on this!!
